Convention Clinic Proposal

Selection Criteria

To be considered for presenting at a clinic session at the AASB Annual Convention, proposals for programs, projects or strategies must meet the following criteria:

1. Clearly describe how the program, project or strategy has been successful in one or more of the following areas
• Improving student achievement
• Navigating legal issues
• Board leadership
• Hot topics for Alabama public schools
• Innovative technologies
2. Describe the policy and administrative and financial strategies that were used in the implementation of the program or programs.
3. Show that the program or project can be replicated in other school systems.
4. Special preference will be given to programs in which the school board, in its governance function, played a leadership role.

Proposal Guidelines

The convention clinics allow presenters to share their experience, information, knowledge or research about successful programs in their system or topics of critical importance to board members and education leaders. Lecture portions of the presentation should be interspersed with ample time for audience questions and participation.

Rooms will be set theater style to accommodate the most participants.

Presentation Details

Clinic sessions are 60 minutes in length. Presentations are usually on the Friday of convention. There are three timeslots, so you may be asked to do your presentation three times. Contact events@AlabamaSchoolBoards.org for exact times. AASB will reimburse one vehicle per clinic for mileage. Presenters who wish to attend the rest of the convention will be responsible for their own registration.
