2026 Webinar: Understanding Poverty in Our Classrooms

More than 230,000 children living below the poverty line in Alabama walk the halls of Alabama's public schools, facing daily challenges that significantly impact their experiences in the classroom. Poverty can affect everything from a child's ability to focus in class to their access to basic resources such as nutritious meals and school supplies. Understanding these complexities is crucial for developing strategies that support all students effectively.

Please note: Due to a scheduling error the webinar has been rescheduled to Friday, April 17.

Join us Friday, April 17 from noon to 1 p.m., for our "Understanding Poverty in Our Classrooms" webinar. Dr. Tracye Strichik, executive director at Voice's for Alabama's Children, and her team will break down the factors contributing to poverty across the state of Alabama and how those issues find their way into the classroom. They'll cover the data, key points school board members need to understand and how to take the first step in advocating for students in your school system.
