Advocacy Program
Legislators can make decisions best when they have the right information. Who better to keep them in touch with and informed about schools than local school board members?
AASB's grassroots advocacy program, formerly called Leader to Leader, has been expanded to encourage all school board members to take on the important advocacy role. The program's advisement comes from an appointed Advocacy Committee. The program trains all interested school board members to serve as a reliable resource to lawmakers and government officials on education policy and legislative issues. It also furthers school board members' role as a voice for schoolchildren and public education.
The program encourages interaction between school board members and lawmakers, state policymakers and others who directly impact education in Alabama.
