2024 Summer Conference: Remember Your Why




Join your fellow board members and superintendents from around the state June 28-30 at The Lodge at Gulf State Park for three days of learning and networking. AASB's 2024 Summer Conference will feature an agenda filled with inspiring and informative keynote speakers who will help your board stay focused on the primary goal - student achievement. Attendees will also have an opportunity to visit the education trade show with more than 20 vendors. We hope to see you there! View Schedule



We've made some changes! Here's what you need to know:

  • Location: The Lodge at Gulf State Park, a Hilton hotel (NOTE: you must first register for the Conference before booking a room at the Lodge.)
  • NEW Single Session Schedule: Back by popular demand! Summer Conference will follow a single session schedule Friday through Sunday. Members will NOT have to choose between morning or afternoon schedule tracks!
  • NEW School Safety Summit: The pre-conference workshop, School Safety Summit, will be Friday, June 28 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Lunch is included. Board members will receive 3.5 training hours.
  • NEW Sunday Session: Registrants MUST attend Friday, Saturday and Sunday's general sessions in order to receive full credit.
  • Exhibit Showcase: Be sure to take time to visit with the vendors participating in the AASB Exhibit Showcase. You'll learn more about a variety of products and services available to help your school systems operate more efficiently. Plus, you'll have an opportunity to win exciting prize drawings and giveaways.
  • Training Hours: Earn up to 7 hours

Friday, June 28 - Sunday, June 30: Summer Conference ($349)

Summer Conference will operate on a single session schedule (Friday through Sunday). Registrants must attend Friday, Saturday and Sunday's general sessions to receive full credit.

  • There will be a $75 fee for any conference cancellation. 
  • Cancellations for registration will be accepted until June 19, 2024. 
  • All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to jbrownell@alabamaschoolboards.org.
  • A late registration fee of $20 will be added to all registrations starting June 20.

 We're pleased to announce our Second Annual Summer Conference Book Drive! We're asking Summer Conference attendees to donate new or like-new books to help promote literacy and combat the "summer slide" for students at all grade levels.

See below to find out what grade level books your district is asked to provide, and drop off your donation at the AASB Summer Conference June 28-30 at The Lodge at Gulf State Park!

AASB Districts 1, 2 & 3: Please donate books for grades K-5.

AASB Districts 4, 5 & 6: Please donate books for grades 6-8.

AASB Districts 7, 8 & 9: Please donate books for grades 9-12.
