Other than your service as a school board member, tell us about your career/ professional background.

I am a retired educator and currently help with the family-owned business Traffic Signs, Inc. in Jacksonville.

What inspired you to join the school board?

With my knowledge and educational background, I felt that I had a contribution to make and a willingness to serve.

What is your favorite part about being a school board member?

My favorite part about being a member of the school board is service and knowing that I am making a contribution to our community.

What does being a board member mean to you?

Representing the community in making decisions that align with our strategic plan and mission statement.

What do you do outside of the school board, and what are some of your hobbies?

My hobbies are purging, decluttering and organizing; I am striving for a minimalist lifestyle!

An interesting fact about me is...

I completed the Motorcycle Safety Program Basic Rider Course at the University of Montevallo, and owned and rode a BMW R-80RT motorcycle.

Other things I'm excited to share...

The city of Jacksonville has set aside funding for scholarships and I am currently working with members of the Jacksonville City Council to write scholarship applications for students in our community.  I also serve as the governor’s appointee on a state textbook committee. As a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville, I am excited to serve as chair of the board that is in the process of establishing a child care center that will not only focus on Christian values but also incorporate a phonemic curriculum, STEM, and language nutrition into the program.

My favorite inspirational quote is...

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Philippians 4:13
