Q: What is your current occupation?
A: I am a business relationship officer (commercial lender) at Redstone Federal Credit Union.
Q: How long have you been on the school board, and what inspired you to join?
A: I've been on the school board for 10 months. This is an appointed position in our district, but a calling from a higher power inspired me to apply.
Q: What excites you most about being a school board member?
A: The opportunity to be the role model I needed as a child.
Q: What’s one key thing you’ve learned since becoming a board member?
A: Lead with grace and humility!
Q: Are there any special initiatives or projects you are particularly proud of accomplishing with your board? Anything you’re looking forward to working on together as a team?
A: I am passionate in helping our administration prepare strategically for our region’s growth and thusly our student body. We are continuing to erect new and rehab old, brick-and-mortar facilities with no signs of slowing down.
Q: What is one piece of advice you would share with an incoming board member?
A: This is a marathon… not a sprint, not a 5K, not a 10K. Patience is a virtue.
Q: What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of your role as a board member?
A: I'm a runner and outdoor enthusiast, from hiking to boating. Do not underestimate Vitamin D. I love to cook and have taken up gardening. My current favorite thing to do is watch my young children excel in sports! I encourage them to try everything and then focus on which one they find the most fulfilling.
Q: Finish the sentence. One thing you should know about me is…
A: I have lived many lives before arriving at this point in my life. If you had told me 10, 20 or 30 years ago where I would be now, I would have laughed and thought you were crazy. God has a plan for all of us and it is your job to discover what that path is.
Q: What is your favorite inspirational quote or mantra that keeps you motivated?
A: "Everyday is a blessing to learn something new" and "Never forget the Golden Rule"
