The Board of School Comm. of Mobile County v. Thomas, -- So.3d --, 2013 WL 135563 (Ala.Civ.App. Jan. 11, 2013) case began prior to the Students First Act. It addressed the proper forum for determining whether a teacher had attained tenure. Huntsville City Board of Education v. Frasier, -- So.3d --, 2013 WL 646461 (Ala.Civ.App. Feb. 22, 2013), originally reported in the January 2013 edition of Court Report, has a new opinion. In June, the Alabama Association of School Boards will launch its first courses on the new School Board U portal for online school board training. The courses are designed to help school board members comply with the School Board Governance Improvement Act of 2012. That act targets school board effectiveness.
